Responses to ºclimo #21: How do you feel about climate change?

I feel worry, concern & profound anger. It totally colours my personal & professional life. I feel conscience-bound to act on these feelings as far as I am able. I wish I felt hope & optimism, but at the moment, I don’t.

Ruthe Garde

Frustrated with government low prioritisation; responsible to change my way of living to reduce my climate burden.

Andrew Hyde

Socialise continuously to avoid the gaps. Tired eyes everywhere must stare at the apps. Don’t blink, don’t blink. Just play your part (in groupthink). Be sure to take selfies, especially of great catastrophes. It’s the End of the Line.

Eli

Indifferent. It’s definitely an issue that needs to be tackled because of the severity. But, I am glad that it is bringing people together to create positive change. That’s 30.

Paven

Admittedly sad and fearful of the potential worst case scenario, but optimistic when I see the desire to change our lifestyles and the system that got us here amongst so many young and engaged people.

Tom

Terrified yet hopeful; numb yet energised; confused yet focused; submerged yet reinvigorated; angry yet composed; sober yet resolute; oscillation/ determination.

Paul Eteson

I feel frustrated that politicians and pundits try to frame climate change as a debate. Accept the scientific consensus and act now!

I feel quite stressed about climate change, I am worried about how it will impact myself and future generations. My main concerns are plastic and pollution.

Jess

Saddened that we’re messing up our wonderful planet. Thankful to our son who, through his passion, has opened our eyes to what we need to do to save this creation of God.

Joanna Tulip Hyde

It makes me feel terrible. To a certain extent the weight of the issue is such that I feel sometimes a need to ignore it so that I can continue on with my day. When the situation is so dire that it threatens ones mental stability then that in turn makes me feel terrible.

James

We won’t and shouldn’t ever be, forgiven by future generations for the purposeful fucking of this planet for profit.

Tom Hambley

Climate change makes me feel anxious. It also brings up grief. Grief for the children I always thought I would have but now question because of the unknown circumstances we may live in and for the life I always had in my mind. However I also can feel positive because I believe it makes me more considerate in the way I act, the decisions I make and I feel encourages more compassion and love into my life.

Claire

The brief answer is that the situation we are facing on our planet is due to the excesses of some of our lifestyles. The myth, that we can continue as normal, as though nature has unlimited resources for us to exploit, is debunked.

Samantha Day

Despondent at the loss,
Disillusioned with the distractions,
Delirious at the magnitude and unknown.
Despair for the unaware,
Disgust at the intentional uninforming.

Deep connection and love of all life.

Climate change makes me feel small and uninfluential but the recent rise in direct action is very encouraging since I believe that together we can create change of a better kind!
